FringeMI Festival
From June 31 to 9, 2024

Nearly 10 thousand participants enjoyed the events of the FringeMI Festival, with a program that developed over ten days, involving 13 neighborhoods of Milan, 75 stages for a total of about 200 events with many different shows aimed at different audiences.

A big success of the public that crowded both the best-known venues and new spaces. The great enthusiasm of neighborhoods such as NoLo, Martesana, Calvairate, Cistà – Città Studi Aquabella, Dergano, Ortica, Villapizzone, Parco Lambro, Baggio and the neighborhood near Fondazione AEM was reconfirmed, but the “new” neighborhoods: Giambellino Lorenteggio, Barona and San Siro also opened up to the fringe formula with great participation.

My mom does the notary, but also the risotto

by and with Filippo Capobianco

“My Mom Is A Notary, but Also Makes Risotto” is a show that combines the languages of performance poetry and song theater to tell a coming-of-age tale that confronts the fears and desires of Generation Z.

Stratagem Editor’s Award

Generation Pasolinidramaturgy and direction by Marta Bulgherini, also on stage with Nicolas Zappa

For its ability to develop a stream of consciousness capable of bring into dialogue the ideas and visions of Pier Paolo Pasolini, while demythicizing the image of an author capable of reflecting on the instances of his own contemporaneity in a lucid manner. For its consistent use of space and adaptability to the performance context, the show found an evocative way of interacting with the audience, helping them to understand the critical issues of consumer society without offering immediate or simplistic solutions. For the ways in which it addresses issues of tragic complexity with ironic and irreverent language, by common consent, the editors chose to award Generation Pasolini.

THANK YOU

Once again this year, the FringeMI Festival has been able to count on the support and proximity of several partner entities that believe in the value and importance of such an articulated and strategic cultural project for our city.

A dialogue that manifests itself in mutual trust and the understanding that the exchange between the business and artistic worlds is capable of creating wealth for the community and the local area. Alongside institutions such as the Municipality of Milano, i Area town halls e Cariplo Foundation, renewed thanks are extended to AEM Foundation which reconfirms itself as the official stage and partner of the Festival for the second consecutive year, to BPM Foundation which has chosen to support FringeMI Festival again, sharing the common idea that “cultural revolution” from below is a winning lever of development and regeneration, to Trenord as our established Travel Partner, as well as KPMG e Borio Mangiarotti who will be at our side in the certainty that together we can achieve important social development goals, contributing to the collective well-being. Finally, our thanks go to the entities that have chosen to support the programming of the neighborhood where they operate: in particular the sponsor Opera Fiore, which runs a community and educational greenhouse at Barona Village, supports Barona Fringe events and Acrobatic Construction, which supports Martesana Fringe events and shares its values of inclusion, solidarity and accessible culture.
